The forklift is an important piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial facilities. This wonder equipment, the forklift is constructed of numerous components, including the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts usually have a range of attachments as well. The following are several of the most important lift truck components.
Engine of the Forklift - At the back of the equipment, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the forklift will require varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: gasoline, diesel, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the lift truck parts. This forms the machine's core. All other forklift parts are connected to the base, including the wheels, axles, mast overhead guard and counterweight. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what allows the machinery to be balanced while lifting heavy cargo. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Some forklifts have a cab area which is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are many parts located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important components like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
