Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Inside most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
