Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
About 200 deaths ever year are caused by mishaps which involve lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of lift truck tires could help to reduce the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Check
Prior to the start of every shift, the tires on the lift truck should be inspected for signs of damage and wear. The air pressure in the tires has to be checked to make sure that the pressure is not very low. Having a tire pressure that is low can make the machinery prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type must be based on the type of surface on which the lift truck will be used. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For surfaces that are smooth, tires are usually smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires could grip well on surfaces which are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks need some continual daily and some periodic checks that is performed each shift. The tires should be inspected again for any indication of damage, like for instance wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
If you or your employees will be utilizing forklifts, proper training in forklift safety is important. Lift truck mishaps could cause serious personal injuries or death and cause unmanageable financial hardship. Even minor mishaps can cost you and your company money if the lift truck or the goods are damaged during an accident. Be sure you are well informed regarding issues involved in lift truck safety.
