Narrow Aisle Forklifts
Some forklifts are particularly designed to fit down very narrow aisles inside a warehouse. These models are referred to as narrow aisle forklifts. They can negotiate smaller aisles easily and allow you to enjoy several benefits. Like for instance, the increased amount of area to store things could really increase the overall available stock of a business.
Narrow aisle lift trucks could maneuver easily as well. These machinery have been particularly designed to move without a lot of space. Their unique design has eliminated a lot of the items which are squished up into the design of the traditional lift truck's main body.
These forklifts are really slow in comparison to standard forklifts that is one of their key drawbacks. If you have to move objects across large areas, the narrow aisle lift truck is not the best. In terms of speed they will not be a reliable alternative. If you also have a regular lift truck, this would not be an issue. You could just use the narrow aisle lift truck to move the load to a central place and then hand it off to a regular lift truck that could travel the bulk of the distance in a timely and efficient method. Commonly, narrow aisle forklifts cannot handle as much lifting weight; hence, outside of smaller loads they will not be really useful.
Electric Lift Trucks
For indoor applications like stores or inside warehouses, traditional gas lift trucks are not a suitable choice. They would not be as safe because of their fumes, or as helpful or cost-efficient than an electric powered unit. Electric forklifts are usually engineered to look and work a lot like gas ones, but they use electric batteries which should be recharged, instead of gasoline fuel.
The electrically powered forklift has become more popular and for a range of reasons. These machinery can help companies save expenses on fuel. Electric units will initially cost more, but would eventually save you more over time. Like for example, when gas prices increase, you would not be affected and will save a lot of cash. Electric models tend to last quite a bit longer than gas powered models also. This is partially because of the fact they are mainly used inside and hence don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered ones. Electric units are healthier to use in poorly ventilated places like indoor applications and warehouses since they don't emit noxious fumes. It can be extremely dangerous to use diesel or gas forklifts inside.
The electric forklift does have several disadvantages like the fact that they can really just work for about 8 hours. After that the equipment would need to be charged for 8 hours and rested for another 8 hours. Numerous companies get around this condition by buying an extra battery so they could continually cycle them and have less downtime. There are fast charge batteries emerging on the market that are also reducing the charging time.
