How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Numerous people appreciate the convenience of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer a lot more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar task using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the right choice for carrying jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
