In 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began building threshing equipment. The company later gained worldwide recognition as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. In time, the business grew to become the largest maker of steam engines within the world.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine industry. The rapidly began to produce road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machinery business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction equipment.
In 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing several of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
