Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names such as: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk along the machine while they pick up and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to lift and transport tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the best answer if you are searching for a cheap method for transporting cargo from one location to another. If though, you are required to move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right choice.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specially designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Normally, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that can work in smaller aisles. They are very handy pieces of machinery in physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
