Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually utilized for jobs that need tasks to be performed at heights which exceed other types of lifts. For instance, workers could perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are better suitable to specific jobs such as electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these types of machines must be positioned directly beneath the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift normally has a bigger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machines, since they need to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often used to lift employees for different jobs performed at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Cherry pickers can raise personnel up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one location to another. There are different kinds of cranes that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different jobs and are suitable for particular applications and completing particular tasks.
